Upcoming workshop in Aarhus Sunday 23/03 2025

Drawing into dancing - CI workshop & jam with live music
We invite you to an afternoon full of artistic exploration into contact improvised dancing.
With colors and pens on paper, we’ll explore intuitive drawing as a medium to deepen the experience of our dance—enhancing inner sensations, outer expression, and perhaps even widening our perception of ‘what dance is’.
Rooted in our backgrounds within contact improvisation, art therapy, contemporary dance, instant composition and cross artistic processes, this workshop will introduce guided scores that connect embodied movement, creative intuition and spontaneous composition.
We’ll explore nuances of qualities and how they meet in improvised compositions in solo, contact and groups.
Topics to explore:
How can we bring other movement qualities into the practice of contact improvisation?
Can we expand the drawing into our dance, and translate our dance in visual sketches?
How to connect with another dance quality without harmonizing, but rather enjoy the
tension of differences? Can we see the dancefloor as a shared canvas, and each dancer
as a part of the composition?
In the end we bring the research into a jam with a guided start and live music by Simon Oelsner.
Who is it for?
This workshop welcomes movement enthusiasts, contact improvisers and artists of all levels.
No prior experience in visual arts is needed, but some familiarity with contact improvisation is recommended. Teaching language is english with danish translation possible.
